Backpack sets up the new Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) account and collects all the necessary data.

02 Data Verification

Backpack verifies  all data including property setup, occupancy, operational hours and creates connections to all active meters.

03 Data Sharing

Your ESPM is complete!  Now you can share the new ESPM to trusted consultants, compliance and certification entities and your extended team as you see fit.

04 Energy Star Certification

Now that your ESPM is set up and 100% Backpack verified, did you reach a score of 75 or greater?  If so, we can help you get Energy Star Certified for just $500! Ask your Backpack representative for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to move from an existing ESPM to a Backpack Administered ESPM?

We will help you with all transitions including getting historical data. Just talk to your Backpack representative about making the change.

I have a utility that uploads to my current ESPM. What do I do?

No worries at all, we can help you move that to the new ESPM!

Can you certify without a Backpack ESPM?

We prefer to work with a Backpack ESPM because we know the information is accurate and we have the sources to back up the data.  But, if you are unable to make the change, please reach out, we are happy to discuss it with you! 

Can you help me get to an Energy Star score of 75?

Who do I contact about moving to a Backpack Administered ESPM?

What is a Property Data Administrator and why is that important?

The Property Data Administrator is the person who owns the account where the property was initially entered. This can be anyone within or outside of your company.

The Property Data Administrator is important because they have full access to the account and full sharing rights.  That means they ultimately control all the data & who has access to the data.
